In order to figure out when you will need a new heater or air conditioner, it is typically when the systems cost more to repair than the old system is worth. When the system has become unreliable and unsafe and/or if it runs off old refrigerant that is no longer used.

Q. How often should I check my air filter?
You should check your air filter about once a month as recommended by professionals. Unless you have a 4-inch filter then its twice a year.

Q. How often should I clean my air filter?
You should throw it away and get a new one monthly, you should not clean your filter.

Q. How often should I replace my air filter?
Monthly for a 1-inch filter and every 6 months for a 4-inch filter.
